So we are a young married couple who left home to join a church planting team in the northwest. We’ve no real plan, we’ve no deep pockets, and we don’t at this point know what we’re doing. We want to be faithful and we wouldn’t mind being equipped along the way. A little bitty history as to how we got here…
Our journey together
started only a couple of years ago on March 21st, 2008, when Leaza and I met on a chilly, seemingly random night in a neighborhood of Pasadena, CA; which also happened to be her birthday! Two years later to the day we were married, in a sort of freak snow storm. We’ve started our marriage here in Lewisville, TX (a sub-par suburb of Dallas), and we have made so many beautiful memories during these past 7-ish months. I’ve been working as a job counselor for people with disabilities and Leaza has been working with Global Aid Network (GAiN), the relief and development arm of Campus Crusade for Christ.
Throughout this past year as we prepared for marriage our group of friends began to meet together to talk more specifically about putting flesh on our dreams. Over several months of talking, praying, debating, listening, crying, and meeting, a yearning for the Church began to develop in our hearts. The yearning stemmed from a heart of mission, not a desire to be pastors or preachers or whatever. We still believe that our calling is one not unlike all Christians: to follow Christ. This conversation turned into movement as part of our team met with some pastors in the northwest on a vacation…the movement started to take shape and the prayer became more specific.
Now, 5 of the 9 of our team is already in Moscow, ID, and the rest of us are on our way shortly. We are so excited and humbled to be a part of God’s work in the NW.
Hello fellow Tettleton’s! I am so elated to have found your blog!
The story of how I found your blog may sound odd; I was actually Googling my name before submitting a resume to a future employer. I wanted to be sure of what would pull up if my name was put into a Google search. I saw ya’lls blog, saw that it was actually at the same blog host as one that I have (wordpress) and decided to take a look.
I then became enraptured in your mission; you faithful desire to follow God to the utmost ends of the earth, his every Call to do His will. I too am a fellow Christian and I am encouraged by what I see of your sweet love story and especially, your sincerity in following after the will of God.
I am praying for you, and wanted to tell you that there are other Tettleton’s out there, and one that is praying for all that you are doing and desire to do through Christ Jesus.
God bless,
Elizabeth Tettleton
